Four loading devices - testing instrument.

ASTM standard G44 introduces a testing method to study the effect of periodic saltwater wetting and drying on the corrosion behaviour of aluminium and steel alloys. Cormet has designed and built an instrument for Tübitak (Turkey) that wets specimens for 10 minutes and lets them dry for 50 minutes before the next wetting period.

The specimens are flat or round tensile specimens that are attached to loading devices for constant load tests based on ASTM G47. Alternatively, a CT specimen can be used to search for the critical KISCC value according to ASTM F1624.

The instrument, which consists of four loading devices, can be controlled independently via a Siemens Simatic S7 touch panel.
