High Temperature Gas Environment
The ambient testing cell can be replaced with a furnace for high temperature gas environment testing. The operation temperature depends on the furnace type, but 800°C temperature is the most typical temperature.
The furnace is not gas tight, but a continuous gas or gas mixture will be led in the furnace to prevent the exposure of the high temperature to specimen to air. The furnace setup is regularly equipped with adjustable flow meters for nitrogen and an operation gas such as CO2. There is also an adjustable flow meter for the cooling water that controls the pull rod temperature.
The compliance of the loading device will be compromised due to the high temperature operation. The pull rods, the specimen holders and specimen ends will yield at high temperature. The specimen strain and the pull rod displacement deviate from each other essentially. Cormet uses an extensometer to measure the specimen strain. The extensometer can also be used for the controlling signal with certain limitations. Nevertheless, the extensometer data will be saved in the loading device data file.
